In terms of being the first, the Air Jordan III (3) can’t claim that title. But in terms of how the ethos behind the Air Jordan franchise came about, the AJ3 had a huge part of it. It was the first that brought all the components together – Tinker Hatfield’s perspective design, the elephant/cracked cement accents, the visible Air Sole unit, Spike Lee’s advertising prowess, and of course, the Jumpman logo. While Air Jordan 1 opened the flood gate, it was the Air Jordan III which pumped the concept to the masses. Even non Jordan fans took notice the time of its launch. And so, 22 years later, the Air Jordan III is back once again on the product launch list.
